Our History
Established in 1992 by the late Mr Michael Chia, Yong Khiong Credit Pte Ltd has grown into a trusted & enduring name in Singapore’s commercial vehicle industry. Built on a strong foundation of integrity, reliability and customer service, the company began by offering both in-house financing and trading of buses, serving the needs of transport operators and small businesses across the country.
1972
Mr. Chia’s journey in the automotive field began at a young age, working as an auto body technician. Through years of hands-on experience and a deep understanding of vehicle repair & maintenance, he established Teck Tiong Motor Workshop in 1979 specializing in vehicle repairs, motor insurance claims, and the import of Japanese-made buses.
1992
With a clear entrepreneurial spirit and a keen eye for industry opportunities, Mr. Chia co-founded Yong Khiong Credit in 1992 with like-minded industry peers, broadening his vision to include tailored financing solutions. The company was later appointed an authorized agent for Mitsubishi Rosa Buses, further strengthening its position in the market.
In the years that followed, the business gradually transitioned under Mr Chia’s sole leadership with steadfast support from his brother, Mr David Chia. Together, the Chia brothers brought clarity of vision, strong values, and a deep commitment to their clients – laying the groundwork for lasting relationships and a well-regarded reputation within the commercial vehicle industry.
Present Day
Today, the second generation carries forward this legacy with a renewed focus on in-house financing – leveraging the company’s core strengths to better serve evolving client needs. While financing solutions remain the primary focus, Yong Khiong Credit stays open to exploring commercial vehicle trading as future opportunities arise. While its focus has evolved with the times, the company remains deeply rooted in the values and vision of its founder, delivering tailored, reliable financing solutions to clients across Singapore.
